FCC awarded 246 million euro railway contract in Romania

FCC's internationalisation strategy is moving full steam ahead. Romania's National Railway Company (RFC) has awarded FCC a 246 million euro contract to refurbish and upgrade the Sighişoara-Atel section of the Simeria-Braşov railway line, in Transylvania, north of Bucharest. FCC leads a consortium comprising its construction division together with subsidiary Alpine, and construction company Azvi.

“A Laracha” Business Park Officially Opened in Coruña

The head of the Autonomous Community of Galicia's Government, Alberto Núñez Feijóo, accompanied by the Minister of Public Works, Ana Pastor, officially opened the "A Laracha" business park in Coruña this morning. This ribbon-cutting ceremony was attended by the President of FCC Construcción, José Mayor, along with other FCC executives.

2012 Eurovision Song Contest will be broadcast from the "Baku Crystal Hall" built by ALPINE

The European Broadcasting Union (EBU) announced that the 2012 Eurovision Song Contest would be broadcast from the "Baku Crystal Hall." The multipurpose hall is being built in Baku, Azerbaijan's capital, by the ALPINE Construction Company, the Austrian subsidiary of FCC.

FCC leading sustainability in civil works

At the recent Plenary Meeting of the European CEN/TC 350 "Sustainability in Building Construction" Committee held in Stockholm, it was agreed to create a new working group on "Sustainability in Civil Engineering Works", headed by Antonio Burgueño, the Quality and Training Director of FCC Construcción, with the favorable vote of all of the member countries and one single abstention, the United Kingdom.

FCC completes left tube of Sorbas Tunnel on Murcia-Almeria High Speed Line

The tunnel is approximately 7.5 kilometers long, totaling 98.7 percent of the full length of this section. This is the Andalusia's largest railway tunnel, larger than the two-tube Aldalajis (Málaga) tunnel. The Sorbas-Barranco de los Gafarillos section runs fully through the municipality of Sorbas, in the province of Almeria.,
