A new port culture

Maritime works

This subsector has gone through some deep-reaching changes that have given rise to a new kind of port culture. Factors like the globalization of the economy, which has made for an increase in goods flows, heavier demand for service quality in order to achieve shorter delivery terms and lower costs, and demands for inter-modal transfer facilities in order to expand the range of shipping alternatives have moulded the new port concept and are now forcing ports to adjust in order to respond to the market’s new demands.

FCC Construcción holds consolidated experience in this subsector, where it has made a big investment effort in specialized machinery in order to bid on the kinds of jobs required to modernize ports. Foremost among its specialized devices are the floating docks Mar del Teide and Mar del Aneto, which make floating caissons for use in new protection works, and the split barges Bocami and Acanto, for dumping rockfill.
