More than a century building cities

FCC has been building since 1900, initially through Fomento de Obras y Construcciones (FOCSA) and since the mid-1950s as Construcciones y Contratas, S.A. (CYCSA), although each company acted separately.

The company initially operated in Catalonia, mainly working in the building sector. The contracting in 1911 of sewerage cleaning and maintenance services in Barcelona was an important milepost in the company's history, making it a pioneer in the policy of diversification.

In the first half of the 20th century, the company operated in both the building and services sectors and carried out large projects in the era such as the 10 km Girona-Olot railway, the Sants and Barcelona terminus stations, the Vallcarca, Argentona and Ripollet viaducts and the company headquarters building for the Fomento de Construcciones y Contratas, S.A. group in the Calle Balmes in Barcelona, included in the city's Architectural, Historical and Artistic catalogue.

In the 1950s, the Fomento de Construcciones y Contratas group occupied an outstanding position among the companies in the building sector.

FCC Construcción is heir today to the building experience accumulated by a business group that has stood witness to more than a century.
