Finances in the heart of the port

The World Trade Center Barcelona enjoys a fantastic location on Port Vell wharf. Its design makes it an unusual construction, very appropriate for its site in the heart of the city's oldest harbour.

From far away the complex reminds one of a great transatlantic steamer silhouetted against the sky. At present it is one of Barcelona's architectural landmarks and a must-see for every tourist.


The Center is the work of Pei, Coob, Freed & Partners, the architects who made the Louvre Museum's famous glass "Pyramid".

There are four curved buildings in the shape of truncated cones. Three are for offices, and the fourth contains a luxurious hotel. There is also a spacious inner courtyard, two harbour stations, a long tree-lined walk and a huge underground car park.

The ground floor and first floor hold the commercial activities related with WTC Barcelona's common uses and services. On top of them there are four great eight-storey towers. The result is the creation of 130,000 m2 of floor space, enough to hold easily all the needs of the companies that work out of WTC Barcelona.

The building's eye-catching 48-metre-tall outer walls covered with glass and concrete lean back, endowing the whole with a special charm.

Inside there is a 2,500-m2 enclosed courtyard that forms a hub tying all the buildings together. The courtyard sets the stage for relaxation and is host to its own shopping area.
