The Taoiseach opens a motorway built by FCC and Sacyr

Taoiseach Brian Cowen opened 56-kilometre-long motorway N6 between Galway and Ballinasloe, Ireland, which was built by Sacyr Vallehermoso and FCC with a budget of 288 million euro.

International Federation for Structural Concrete Award for the Navia Viaduct

The Navia Viaduct, constructed by FCC, has been distinguished by the jury with a Special Mention in the category of Civil Engineering Structures at the 2010 fib Awards for Outstanding Structures.

FCC’s Luis Viñuela and José Martínez, authors of a book on bridge building

Proyecto y Construcción de Puentes Metálicos y Mixtos, a book written by Luis Viñuela Rueda and José Martínez Salcedo, both of whom are civil engineers with FCC Construcción, has just been published as part of the Publicaciones APTA project.

Workshop for Construction Model Change

At the workshop's closing event, Mr Nadal, regional councilman for land policy and public works, defended the need to foster refurbishment, since that is the best sustainable policy. He added, however, "Civil engineering work will continue to be called upon to play a driving role in the economy's productivity, and the increase in the amount of infrastructure investment will be a guarantee of the creation of wealth and better employment rates".

FCC to build a 64.5-million-euro tunnel in Slovenia

The Austrian construction company Alpine, a subsidiary of FCC, has signed a contract to build Markovec Tunnel in Slovenia. The 2.1-kilometre-long tunnel belongs to the coastal motorway. Alpine and its Slovenian partner were chosen for the contract in June, although the contract was only signed with DARS, the state road authorities, on Wednesday last.
